so I'm thinking that i want to set up my Bradley in my shop and plumb the vent through the wall outside. any ideas and or pictures would be a great help. would it need a booster fan to actually push it through? at the same time i think its time to add a second heating element and inside circulation fan as it looks like the rewards are worth it. any help with this one ? I'm also running a dual auburn PID if that makes a difference with setting up a second element.

Can't help with the smoke stack. You have to run a PID with a second or larger element. I have a 2" fan in mine and I find that it doesn't make enough of a difference to justify the $$ spent.
Others here a installed bigger fans with way better results. I have PM a member that has installed 2  2" fans and still has to rotate the racks to get even cooks. Others swear by the single fan.
Good luck. Hopefully you have better luck with the fan than some of us :)

thanks. im reading that people are buying fan kits, does anybody know where to buy? i wonder if i put a large enough fan in the piping running from the smoker vent outside if that would create enough air movement?

How about lowes or home depot. An exhaust fan kit for the bathroom.  Just a suggestion. :) could be rigged up in something with the piping attached on either side. ???

Habanero Smoker

If you use a fan that is too large in your duct, it will suck too much heat out of the smoker. Search around, there are a few who have added a computer fan inside the duct. Some even have attached variable speed fans. I believe I saw one setup a member had an AC adapter that could be switch from 6, 9, 12 volts. Switching the adapter to a lower voltages, the fan runs slower.

thanks for the info. with a fan in the duct do you think i would still need a circulating fan in the cabinet?

Habanero Smoker

I don't know. After you install the fan in the duct you can test the temperatures in the cabinet to see if they balance out. Though my first thought would be that it would improve the draft, but not the circulation of the heat.

I do have a fan into a duct cause i smoke inside all year long and yes, you still need a circulation fan in the smoker cause the fan in the duct move the air down to up but the fan in the smoker moves the air back to front.

I hope you have better luck with it than some of us :). Also the fan tends to stick when it's cold outside. Some of us have had that problem with it. Will start to go after it warms up some. Mainly would happen to me in winter months. I got mine from the same place.
