My scout troop used them all the time. My son still makes them and takes a few camping with him whenever he goes camping, still cooks his meals that way. No need for a camp stove and he just throws it into the fire pit when he is done. We call them Norweigen Candles.

I'd say the longer and Bigger in diameter it is (girth), that it should burn longer. More mass involved ;D
