Good tips guys!  I used to use an old manual grinder -- but I'm tired of that gig and I have a counter that wouldn't easily let me mount it anyway ... so looking for electric ..

What's the difference anyway in the #10 versus #12 etc.  What's the different #'s mean?

The size of the grinding plate. Don't do it though!! DO NOT get into sausage making now that you have a Bradley Smoker. It is extremely addictive and you will never be able to quit so just don't start. See you at the next meeting Sailor, you too Kevin!!

If it does what is says, it's a good deal.  I read some of the reviews about people grinding chicken bones in theses things and I can't see them lasting very long.  The only concern I have here is the 14 lb. weight.  I have a Lem # 12 and it weighs 46lbs.  But certainly the price is right!

I feel this is a crappy machine. It is not 3/4 hp it might be more like .34 hp or a 1/3 of a hp. There is no way that a 3/4 hp weighs 12 pounds. Mine is closer to 45+ pounds and it is 3/4 HP. Don't buy it!!! You won't be happy.

I have the STX Turboforce.  It works very well.  My only complaint is that it is noisy.

Thanks for the advice. The store up the road from me has the lem 8 for 100 dollars but does not have the big bite auger in it, does it make that big of a difference?

I have never seen them with different auger options?? What does that mean??I looked up the specifications and it says it will do 240# / hour. That is around 3 1/2 5 gallon buckets. Kind of slow for large projects but not bad for the 20# sausage guy.
