We're heading downtown to check out the Old Capitol Blues and BBQ Festival...

I'm judging, and MrsSTC will ride in with Hal and MrsD.

Then we'll do a little reconnoitering for next year..  ;)       Should be a good time.

shigging (shig-ging) , 1. v. to enter a persons BBQ site with intent of stealing BBQ secrets in an effort to improve one's own BBQ score. 2. v. to position one's self to view the contents of the inside of a fellow competitors BBQ pit when it is opened

Their BBQ team could write a book about shigging other teams recipes and techniques.

Shigging?  Us choir boys on the prairie?

The Competitor if things go right.
Talked to some guys there that are gonna go that way...
Well..  Anyhow... They had FatBoys, and said they were gonna "step up".

Pat mentioned I had a misbehaved CHUBBY named "Christine".
And they all ran in ten directions...
(I guess some kids are so precious you just can't sell 'em at auction)

Ok, so after sampling food (some really good, some mediocre, one was almost RAW  :o) for 2.5 hours, I stumble out into the street.

Couple church groups cranking out ribs, and dirty rice.  (2 thumbs up from MrsSTC)

Slight higher budget outfit across the street from them.  I think I judged their ribs and they were picture perfect.

Hot dog cart on steroids!  We chatted with these guys for a while.   MrsSTC taught a few of their kids.

First of many Backwoods we saw.

And some more.

They had 3 or 4 bands playing during the day before the big headliner that night.

Local BBQ chain.

Big azzed smoker out of Texas.

Wet wood!   :o

Couple pellet poopers.  These guys were just competing, not vending.  And by this time, they were just sitting around and drinking.

Definitely low budget here.   Yet functional.

High tech UDS.

Rib joint on wheels.

Grocery store up the street from my office.

This is the team that cooked for the CBJ class that Larry, Jan, Hal and I took.

He was still burning that nasty mesquite...  You could smell that stench up and down the block.

Meat Monster!

Hal had to go and chat with them a bit.

Another competitor.

Heh..

Harley Raffle.  My company had kicked in some $$$ for that.

Chickens on a big swivel pit.

Back to have a beer with Nick and Ed again.  I judged their open entry, (mini ABTs made with those tiny little sweet peppers)  I hope it did well.

Main stage is getting ready.   I'm heading out to find where I parked my truck.

Back at Hal's.  We had to bling out the Meat Monster with 88 cents worth of plastic.

And the chase truck.

Our mascot.   ;D ;D

It was a good time.  But my stomach still hurts...........
