I feel I have a pretty good sense around a computer, but I have never seen anything like trying to add a photo to this forum. I've given it an hour trying to use photobucket and other suggestions but I surrender.......for now. Additional help with a copy and paste method or add file would be appreciated. Or am I the only one not catching on.   Also I dont understand the line under the Box
Attachments and other options  because it has nothing to do with adding attachments

An image uploaded somewhere will have it's own address (URL).

To show the image in a post, you need to tag it (tell our computers that an image address is coming) with [ img ] then typethe url here and tell our computers the image url is done by typing [ /img ].

it will look like this: " [ IMG]http://i1180.photobucket.com/albums/x407/grouperman941/Smoked%20and%20Cured/DSC_5148_zpsdb7aa957.jpg[ /IMG] "

But I added spaces inside the brackets to 'fool' the computers.

With the spaces removed, the above example gives this:

Right click on the image and click 'properties' to see the URL of the photo.

Hope that helped. I felt inspired. :-)

Is that like when you had to drink a double turpentine before you let Dorothy cut those freaky wings off?   8)

Why couldn't the Photobucket people just left things the way they were?  I liked the old format much better and it was quick and easy to use.  <sigh>

I agree. I refused to move to the new format until forced to do so on Monday.

There will be a new tutorial on the Recipe Site either by the end of tomorrow or Thursday.

I put the pictures I post  here in my public Dropbox folder. Much easier for me all I have to do is get the public link from Dropbox and paste it into the "Insert Image" brackets

Pics are usually 4:3 or sometimes (I think) 16:9...
I never have to "edit/size" the ones I upload/link to....

If you need to supply dimensions try something like 800 x 600 and see what it looks like.

I don't use the editing tools on Photobucket. My browser and OS don't want to work with the new version. It is much easier to resize (resample) photos prior to uploading. Any graphics program can easily get that done. Just change one dimension; either length or width and by default the other size will change proportionately.

If I post pictures I like to keep them around 640 x 480 pixels. That way almost anyone with a small screen, and any browser can see the full picture without having to zoom out or scroll.

One thing I liked about Photobucket was that it automatically resized the photos to something like 800x600 when I uploaded them. I used to have to go into MS Paint and use the "Stretch/Skew" option.  Maybe it was something in the default setup that I never changed but it was a welcome feature.

With the new Photobucket I don't know if they've removed that but I hope it's at least one thing that they didn't mess with.
