I woke up one morning in 2006
With a fridge full of meat & some dried hickory sticks.

While drinking my coffee, I thought what to do,
the wife gave me a look like she already knew.

With a tear in her eye and her head hanging low,
I've got something to say. That you don't want to know.

As she took a deep breath, I sat there and waited.
To hear her opinions I so often hated.

That bar-b-que cook book, you've been using for ages.
Has become so outdated you need some new pages.

It's the twentieth century, the internets here you need
to get on it, there's nothing to fear.

There are forums with friends, you don't even know.
And they'll be there to help you, through rain, sleet, and snow.

So to my recliner, with lap top in tow.
" I thought to myself, just what does she know"?

As I typed in the search box. Up popped "BRADLEY SMOKERS"
I knew in an instant these folks, were no jokers.

The wealth of knowledge I have gained from this site
keeps me wanting for more with each passing night.

So to all those who visit, I just want to say.
There's no better sites out there and you don't have to pay.

There's a new recipe posted,
let me get back to smokin, pop open a cold one and no I'm not jokin.

Thanks folks for all you do to help others.

I have met a lot of good friends here and have many more left to meet in person.  :)

That there brings tears to my eyes.  Nice job.  Pens is right.  Met a lot of friends on the site.

Enough ain't enough and too much is just about right.

Yep, learned a lot from the folks here. (ending up spending a lot of money, but that is a different story)

Good thoughts!
Another thing about the forum is that you can learn and try so many other dishes that you didn't even know existed.
I originally bought my OBS to smoke salmon and ribs. Little did I know that with the explanations and accompanying pictures (I'm a pictures kinda guy) I would go on to try bacon, turkey jerky, nuts etc etc. the list is endless.
So thanks for everybody's help and encouragement and imagination! -especially the mods!

I agree totally with Terry08. If I could write poetry I would have written something similar.
The information and help available on this forum is worth a library of books and it has made me aware of and able to attempt dishes I would never have thought of.

OldHickory

A great tribute that is well deserved, and I agree with the comments.
