Miller Time:

What a good time!  My daughter went with me for the drive to skydiving center at the Byron airport near Discovery Bay, California.

My goal was to jump once more in my life before I die.  I started a journey to do just that in October 2004.

In July 2005, I had gastric bypass surgery, and what you see here is my meeting my goal to get weight down to be able to skydive again.  Not skinny yet, by any means, but down 160 lbs here, and able to do so much more.

What next?  Kyaking in Alaska.  Have to go back.  Last cruise there couldn't hardly walk around the deck of the ship.

When I got home, I was sore as hell, but just had to celebrate with a brewski!  Enjoyed my day off, for sure.  You can tell by the smile!

Bill,
Neat-O Man Neat-O! As posted by many of us before we are all very proud of you!

Now today I'm not doing a cotton pickin' thing. Other than to find my glasses and then go do some heads up sniping online. That's is nothing compair to your day, but I must fess up that when there are gaming bucks on the line I have been known to do a little sweating.

Now I've never jumped out of a plane but I have bungee jumped. The way down is not bad, it's that dang snap back up that can leave the sticky in your britches.  Ever thought about trying that?

Again...way to go my friend...way to go~~!

nsxbill,

Way to go! I remember when I made my first jump at the Antioch airport. Of course, there are those that claim only idiots leave a perfectly functioning aircraft. Once you do, then you know why.

Man, good for you! The Alaskan trip sounds great.

It makes painting the interior walls seem kind of drab; but I can't be jumping off of anything more than six inches off the ground.

nsx... i drove over to the airport while exploring the delta today... there was a black military jet turned private and several ww1 or ww1 era replicas flying and a couple gliders...

i stopped and watched folks packing their parachutes and loading onto a dual engine bay area skydiving plane... there were a bunch of spectators watcging too...

so... it must be addictive... im gonna have to try it someday...

you gotta eat...

Retired Army Officer, but enlisted 15 years.  Tours 82nd and 5th SF.  Finally got smart after 7 years as a Drill Instructor, post Vietnam, and transferred into Medical Corps (I am an RN).  Went to 1st Lt after being an E-8 and just settled down into peacetime.  Retired out of Reserves.  No jumps in about 40 years...just had to do it again!

Jumping gets in your blood.

Why jump out of a perfectly good airplane...because Army landings are so damn rough!
