Good to know - sounds kind of nasty - never liked chicken and waffles anyway  ;D

I love them, though they are a little on the sweet side. I haven't seen them in my area since the promotion they had on what new flavor to vote on had ended.

Yeah they are nasty.

It must be a yankee thing.  :o

Good chicken and waffles is a great southern meal, Lay's should be severely abused for making them into a chip flavor.

It ain't a yankee thing. I thought it tasted like something a cat puked up looks like! Disgusting!

My wife and I were looking all over for the new flavors and we actually finally found them.  The Chicken & Waffles were the first we opened, and to tell ya the truth they aren't that bad, but in reality if I really believed that, the bag wouldn't be completely full 2wks later. LOL

I have to say it again, it's good stuff. :) As a matter of fact, that is the flavor I voted for.  8)

I didn't even know there WAS a vote (?)
Just saw them... and, heck, the picture on the front with waffles and fried chicken just kinda lured me in.

I'm sure they had a focus group, and some folks liked 'em, or they would have never made it to the shelves.
But, there's something in there that tastes really wrong to *me*.

My bag was not out-of-date or damaged in any way.
I reckon that's just the way they taste and some folks like 'em and some don't.
Obviously, I had such a negative visceral reaction that I'm firmly in the "don't like 'em camp".

Anyhow, glad to hear someone likes 'em.
If fate should drop a case on porch, Habs...
You're getting them for Christmas!

What I've learned from this topic:

     - Herman made a mighty tasty chip but it looks like PepsiCo ain't doing quite so well.

     - No one said whether they were modeling the chips after the Yankee (Pennsylvania Dutch) version (with stewed chicken & gravy) or Southern style (with fried chicken, butter & syrup).  It probably doesn't matter; neither is one of those things that scream to be a flavoring for chips.

     - NePaS is still lost, probably in a wheelbarrow (see "Pennsylvania Dutch" and "Southern" above).

     - 10.5 loves chicken as much as he ever did. No surprises there.

     - I probably wouldn't like them so hereby designate any portions accidentally headed my way for diversion to Habs.

     - hal wasn't listening (again) when pachanga said (also again, just not here), "That's why they make chocolate and vanilla."

     - "Maui style" is probably best for both chips and other recreational substances. But I already knew that.

I hope case falls on your porch? ;D ;D  The chips are overly sweet, with a strong maple flavor, and a hint of chicken. Here in the northeast, if you put maple syrup on something it will most likely sell. :)

At the beginning of this year Lay's had a promotional contest. It was a huge promotion, with commercials staring chef Michael Simon that Frito Lay ran frequently. They may have only targeted certain sections of the country. They came out with three flavors to vote for, Chicken & Waffles, Sriracha , and Cheesy Garlic Bread. I believe the Cheesy Garlic Bread won, because that is the only flavor of the three that I now see in the stores. The Cheesy Garlic Bread, I though was bland, and the Sriracha chips were good but tasted like the Herr's Texas Pete Hot Sauce flavored potato chips, not like a Sriracha sauce.

They are pretty good. What I meant by bland is that they have a mild cheese flavor, and a hint of garlic. I would have liked more garlic.
