Picked up a working digital smoke generator with all the cables about 9 miles from my house for $40 on CL. Plugged it into my cabinet and everything works good, probably give it a good cleaning and store it until I need it or come up with another use for it. May look into using it to build a dedicated cold smoker unit down the road. Open to idea's or obstacles to doing that with the digital unit.

I am not sure but I think may you need another cable or insert plug so that you don't get errors. I seem to remember with the Bradley cold smoker they gave you a plug to insert but can't remember if you put it in the cabinet or the generator.

I think you are onto something when I plugged in without connecting to the cabinet I got an error and figured it had something to do with not being connected to the element so I went ahead and bought it. Figured it would be good for parts if nothing else but since it works good I want to be creative with it. May just have to call customer support if no one has the exact fix. Thanks for the input GusRobin.

Thanks Paul, I read and bookmarked it. It's got me thinking that I might look at getting a sensor and cabinet side plug and just build it into the cabinet for a backup temp reading on a cold smoker.
