Does anyone else have this problem?  (which I've appropriately named).  EVERY time I run my OBS..... as soon as i flip the switch to turn it on..... THE FREAKIN WIND WHIPS UP LIKE CRAZY!!!!!!!!  Makes it impossible to achieve the temps I want, even with the Auber pid.

ragweed

You're right.  The only time the wind doesn't come up is when I'm trying to smoke cheese and I want some help keeping the temp down.  I guess that would be Bradley's inverse theorem.

The last time I smoked cheese was on a cloudy, windy day - perfect I thought until a single hole opened up through the clouds and lit my deck (and smoker) with bright sun.  Evidently, whatever you're trying to accomplish, the opposite will result  ;D

It happened today!!!! :(  Got 2 smokers of salmon started at 10 AM, after it warmed up to 35*. Around noon the friggen wind starts up first from the north and now from the south. Good thing the smokers are wearing their winter suits. :)

I always get the neighbors coming over. The ones that don't come over are watching.  :D :D :D

Fireguy06

That's why I smoke in the garage now cause it always seamed like the Bradley law would stike before I did that

I haven't really had a problem with it yet, but I am looking at re-doing a small building we have as a smoker/processing room so I don't have the problem.

iceman

Why just the other day the ice maker in the smoke house had problems keeping up with my rum and cola drinks  :o And then there was nothing on dish net so I was forced to watch Netflix until the sausage was done  ::)
It was horrible  >:(
Alright, seriously we had 70 mph winds with gusts over 100 mph.
It was hard to stay on my feet walking from the smoker to the house, and NO, it wasn't the rum  ;D

lol - I bet the rum made the trip both longer and more enjoyable.  ;D

I'm with you Catman! But we are talking about Iceman and he didn't mention what the temperature was. So it may have been down right chilly up in his neck of the woods.

Had the same problem before. I usually will try and build a makeshift chimney around the top vent on my Bradley. It does seem to help a little bit. Last time I used some extra bricks I had lying around.

Yep,,,,,,,,,,,,had the same problem with the wind pickin up all the time, but when the wind knocked over my smoker full of chicken that was the final straw.

My Bradley now lives in my shed out back with a vent hood over it vented outside,,,,,,,,,right next to my beer fridge  ;D

Mine was garaged for that reason.  It's a dumb law IMO.
