You folks are awsome over there! I'm sure he will always remember your hospitality. Thank you so much. ;)

Thanks Iceman, there is a lot wrong with the Government we have over here, as there is with many governments nowadays and I work for them so I know! However, in terms of compassion in such instances they are usually top notch. And local community spirit is usually second to none when it comes to charities and fund raising, particularly as we are only a community of some 70000 people.

A few years ago a Scottish trawler was lost with all hands just off the coast, the Manx Government spent over £1 million pounds salvaging the trawler and returned the 7 dead trawlermen, a couple only teenagers, to their families in Scotland.

Such stories do make me proud to be Manx.

Just an update for any of you folks following this story.

James Cornell is now back in SF following a 12 hour Virgin Atlantic flight last week accompanied by medical staff from the local hospital.

Apparently he was met at SF airport by hundreds of bikers and news people and the ambulance was given a motorcycle escort down Highway 101 which "took up most of the road"!

After a check up at SF hospital he is now in a rehab unit where it is reported he can now feed himself. It is not known how full a recovery he will make.

Members of SF motorcycle club are hoping to bring him back to the Isle of Man TT Centenary celebrations next year as a spectator, Stephan Kokinda, vice president of the club says there is now a special "bond between the motorcycle club and the Isle of Man".

So out of a lot of heartache for friends and family has come some good..... and hopefully the story is not over yet and he goes on to make a full recovery. Already it is a LOT better than originally feared.

You know, this is just another example of how I believe race fans to be truly good people. There are rivalries, but when tragedy strikes, it's one united front.

Recently, CCWS (road courses) driver Cristiano de Matta hit a deer in testing & went into a coma from the injuries. Although I and most people I know are IRL (ovals) fans, our deepest sympathies immediately went out as we monitored his hopeful recovery. It's slow, but positive.

Point is, he's an open wheel driver. It doesn't matter the series he's in. I respect him for all his accomplishments on the track. What he does takes stones of steel. Heck, I can't stand Paul Tracy, but the worst I could wish upon him is an enjoyable retirement or to place last in everything he attempts! ;D

Ya think if next time I check into a hotel & they ask "Smoking or Non", they would mind?

Spot on there Kirk, the camaraderie and closeness of race fans is second to none.

News item on the local radio here today, he is now fully conscious and speaking full sentences in the rehabilitation unit he is currently in in San Francisco and well on the road to recovery.

Whats the betting he will be back on the Isle of Man next year to watch the motorcycle racing, it's the centenary of these races so should be very spectacular!!  ;)

BIG THUMBS UP!! :)

Hopefully he goes even further in recovery. All you have to do to see what's possible these days is look at what happened with Alex Zanardi. :o
