OBS and Digital Smoker suggestions?

Hey smoker pros.

i have an old OBS laying around (nothing wrong with it) thinking of taking the heating element off and using it for cold smoking

adding the element to my digital smoker and ordering the Auber instruments Dual-Probe PID Controller for Bradley Smoker

with that being said, will there be any special things i'll need to complete this process? i'm essentially taking apart all of the heating element for the original
