Well just as I had feared. I reported your thread as you requested with a long explaination that they need to read the thread and find a way to stop the spammers. They just deleted the thread without reading my comments.

I believe it is time for use to start sending e-mails to Bradley and express our disgust with these spammers, and the lack of action being taken against them. I just check the membership roles and sorted by "Date Registered". The spammers already have several accounts set up so that as soon as you delete one, they have serveral ready, so they can post immediately. If I can figure this out, why can't the IT people at Bradley figure it out.

Spammers Taking Over The Forum

There is an increasing amount of spammers hitting the board, and not much is being done other then deleting after they have posted, which is often too late. I consider this a family oriented forum. Many members let their children read the boards, because the adults and children share an interest in smoking and cooking. Also I'm am getting disgusted with this encroachment.

I just checked the membership roles, and if you sort the list by "Date Registered" (descending - latest ones to register) it is easy to pick out the spammer. They have quite a few user names already set up so as soon as you delete one, they already have several accounts set up so that they can post immediately.

Can't anything be done on your end to prevent this intrusion? I'm concerned that members are going to get disgusted and start leaving this board.

I agree with you Habs, I have just emailed them as well along the same lines.

People power went a long way towards getting us a new BS forum a while ago and perhaps the same tack is now needed to get the powers that be at Bradley to do something about the low life who are appearing here at the moment.

Stop. I had to check on an open option on this forum. I deleted that thread. Martin PM me and I had to make sure of what could and could not be done. I gave several suggestions on what to do to stop these dick heads

I even offered to purchase vBulletin board, pay to have my webmaster install it and have our current data base washed over if the options to turn off or require stuff was not part of this board Admin's rights. After that it would only cost Bradley $30.00 per year for upgrades. I'm sure my Webmaster would be glad to maintain this site for the same cost he maintains my sites which is $150.00 per month which is dirt cheap. Ya there are months when he does nothing... however, when the chit hits the fan he goes into high gear. Besides he is Cyber Dude and the hacks I've seen him write just blow my mind away.

One of the things I like about vBulletin board is that they employ hackers to break into the board. When a hole is found there is a fix that is all but an auto patch. It does not get any better than that.

About 3 months back we got hack on an addon on the recipe site. It took Cyber Dude a whole 10 minutes to find the hack -- blow it away and then he track back that dick head to Russia -- contacted their ISP and we have not had another one.

Is he the best...NO! However, he is one of the better ones. Plus he learns real quick. I have no worries that if my sites go down that within 24 hours they will be all be back up and the holes fixed.

Let's face it. Bradley is using a free posting board and as such you really have to stay on top of it or get hacked.

One of my suggestion is to stop bots from registering. At the moment this site is like a young boy in a whore house without protection.

I think Martin will do what can be done on his end. He has proved that he cares about this site. Let's see what he has to say before we start a mass E-mail program.

EDIT : EDIT The one thing that I see since I contacted that re-direct company / server I don't see anymore sites of women copulating horses, or stuff on their faces here. Maybe just a rest on their part. However, I as a member I should not be having to spend 2 1/2 hours of my life doing Bradley stuff.

Alright; maybe we need to hold off, but at least he should start deleting those new accounts that are obviously spam accounts which are waiting to be used by the spammer(s). Also it would of been nice if Martin has sent out a post letting us know they are trying to do something other than delete a spam post.

I would gladly help pitch in on the cost of getting this spam deal cleared up.Since you guys are on the case im sure this will turn out ok.My plea to martin.Please clear this spam stuff up olds has some nice ideas .Please look into them and get this fourm back on track. ;D.thanks alot all working on this issue have a great day.

Have you checked out the member's list and sort by date of registration, newest to oldest. There are a bunch of spam accounts already set up and laying in wait. They are easy to identify. I have counted over 100 that have been set up since 8/23. There are a lot more, but after 4 pages, I stopped looking.

Well I found out that Martin is no longer an Employee of Bradley but some kind of consultant. He has PM me and ask for us to give him time to get with Wade and Bradley's IT folks. I find this interesting as Martin is Admin, and as such is empowered to make changes.

Chez is a Global Moderator, but with no access to the Admin area, so there is nothing he can do other than delete threads.

As far as members go that don't post, many folks will join a site and never post -- just a thought. If in fact there are hundreds of spam accounts set up I can believe it as any bot can run with this board as there is no security in place to stop them. I'm almost inclined to think that it is a bot as the spams have only been on this one board. Plus the postings are generic and not tricking in nature.

If Bradley does not put a stop to this new people will not join, and members will start to move on--at that point this community will start to die. The worse part of this is a few simple setting changes and most if not all of this will go away.

Let's give it until Monday and if at that time no setting changes / action taken then IMO it will be time to directly contact Bradley via an E-mail campaign
