QuoteHi Raye,

Haven't had the best of times this year . . . after more spine
surgery I have developed some sort of debilitating but as yet
undiagnosed illness, probably viral.  They've ruled out HIV and Lyme
Disease and a bunch of other much rarer possibilities, and they are
still considering Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or even a
mitochondriopathy (which would be a cruel irony, since I teach this
disorder to the med students here).  At any rate, I don't feel sick
or in pain, but have no energy and need to rest/sleep a lot.  When
I'm not sleeping or resting, work stuff pretty much occupies the rest
of the time, though I do manage to get a bit of smoking in--it's one
of the few joys in my life right now, along with the great support
from my wife and the kids.

I still keep hoping to get back on the Forum, or even better, on some
of the Tuesday evening chats.  How are things going with the Forum
these days?  I really appreciate your keeping in touch--don't drop me
off the list!

Best regards,
John

Thank you VERY much for posting this Raye, John is one of the guys on the forum I have always thought a lot of and we had a few lively exchanges on the various fortunes of soccer teams here in the UK.

I had been meaning to email him for a while, one of those things I have just not got around to but I will make sure I do in the very near future.

Thanks again for the update, sure a lot of other members will appreciate this too.

I've off-lined John, thanX to your post Raye...wouldn't-a-known otherwise :o Told him to get his strength back and come up to wear himself out on rippin' lips and shootin' feathers!

If you are checking in once in awhile, I sure do wish you the best, John.  I am so sorry to hear that your condition worsened!  I hope things settle down for you, and you get things back on track.  It has been awhile since I visited the site, and actually posted something.  I have quit my sit-down medical advice thing after 8 years, and back working with real patients on the floor again!  Keep in touch, and the best of holidays to your and yours!
