:-X  I was stepping backwards in my garage tonight and stepped on the temp slider at the bottom of the smoker.  Unfortunately, I broke the damn thing off.  Has this happened to anyone and if so, is it a simple fix?  Horrible timing as I was going to fire this thing up tomorrow morning.

One of the forum members stocks all parts for the BS. His name is Kirk, and you can check out his website and give him a call.

If it is under warranty you can call Bradley. I'm not sure how much damage was done when you stepped on it, therefore I am hesitant to recommend any quick fixes. There are some electricians on this board, who may be able to give suggestions on a quick fix.

This is the very thing that enforces my belief that a talk with the boss lady along the lines of having a "Back Up" smoker just it case would come into play. :D ;) Although the situation always seems to escalate into a purchase at her favorite furniture store first. :o At any rate I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Call Chez Bubba "Kirk" and he can fix you right up. He's the best bet you have.

Thanks Iceman and Habanero!!  I'll give Chez a call and see what he can do.  After further review i have found that the slider is still moveable, I just have to hold the knob in the slot to move it.  Hopefully a new one will just snap in.  As far as the backup smoker is concerned, I have only had this one for a week.... We already made a trip to her favorite store last week.  I'll have to try another angle with her. hehe.  Hey Iceman, what's the deal with your sauce?  I've seen a few different posts about it. ???

SmokeyJones,

Did it actually break? I've bumped mine before and had it come off, and just pressed it back on.

SmokyJones

It depends on how the knob is actually made.  I can see a little chipped plastic on the knob where there might have been a lip that holds the knob on.  When I tried to push it back on it stayed, but when I slid it to the side it came off in my hands.  I'm awaiting a response from both Chez and Bradley now.

Exactly. See, the knob should have included a cup-holder for adult beverages. Then, you would have not stepped on it. Instead, you would have been making constant temperature corrections, enjoying it, and we would not be having this exchange. :D

I AGREE!!  I'm not going to let it stop me.  I'm still moving forward with tomorrow's grub and maybe I'll have an adult beverage now just to ease the pain of breaking my new baby!!

Tried to but Active X control wouldn't let me in.  I tried to lower security settings, but it still wouldn't let me in.  The boss needs me to do something for her now.  Really interested in this PID modification.

Glad to see that the smoker is still usuable. If you get the whole face plate with the circuit board, they are easy to replace. Keep the old one as a backup.

It's made for local sale here in Alaska but I offer it at wholesale to Bradley members only over the net. It's $5.00 per jar and four jars fit in a prepaid priority mail box for a flat rate of $8.10 anywhere in the lower 48 states. The jars are mason mugs with handles so you end up with beer mugs when your done. The jars are 16 oz. Basically it comes out to $28.00 for four jars of sauce and I toss in a couple of the rubs also.

Thanks Old!  The new IE 7 was doing it's security thing....  I finally downloaded firefox and joined the chat.  It worked out real well...was able to join chat last Tuesday night.

BTW you will probably have some new members joining your forum... After tasting the results of the Bradley...there are now four people who have ordered it (the BS) this past week.
