My MG

Some of you saw the images of the MG Midet I  purshured a few months back... Well I put in the shop thinking that is was  a small item... it turned out that every back yard mechanic in the world must have worked on it...

The more we looked the more I said... replace that... get rid of that...  Well today I got it back at the tune of 10K... but man o man what a ride she is now. Next year I will put another 8 -10 K into her finishing the restoration work.

This evening I took Susan in it to the South fishing pier of the Skyway bridge. (It goes out 3.1 miles into Tampa Bay.)  We watched the Sun set.

However, Susan does not like 80 mph my little MG does... LOL~~!

Good times now that Susan is retired. However, I don't know if she will go back over the Skyway bridge in it again .... Heh he he....

Rat thanks... but we have someone here that in Florida is "Thee" MG shop as far as all of the clubs goes. As far as paint goes I'm thinking of in-laid images painted with 40 - 50 coats of clear finish over them.

Oh this might tickle ya... I'm really thinking of putting on that supercharger... This little thing is quick with 45 HP... the idea of 70 - 75 HP has me a-going.... Correct if I'm wrong but she only weights 1,600 pounds.

Man-O-Man does she ever do the turns now... she hunkers right down and away we go.

Olds, I own a 1975 MG, or my wife owns it because she does not like me driving it. I have had it restored. Most of the work I try to do myself.

We are blessed to have MG LTD in Milwaukee. It is run by an ex engineer from American Motors. Him and his son make a living from repairing and modifying MG's. Both of them race MG's in the SCCA.

I have put on duel carbs and the best modification was to put on an electronic ignition system. It made the car very reliable.

Interesting that you say this... My Midget has twin carbs and this week we decided to change over to electronic ignition.  This past weekend the Midget begin to show some burning of oil. We did a little research the company that rebuilt this engine (before I got it) really did not know what they were doing. In fact (and this is crying shame) when they went out of business several folks lost their MGs.

I'm hopeing it is just a stim job and not a full rebuild.  (150.00 to 1000.00)

Wow Rat!, that finish looks fantastic!

I have a couple of friends who have a bodyshop, always amazes me when i see the state of some of the cars in the workshop, and then a few days or so later and they look as good as knew!

Definately much skill involved i think ;)

I'v always been fairly artistic, and my kids got me a decent airbrush a while back, i really want to give it a try, but have never used one before, any tips Rat? apart from not spraying myself in the face!  ;D

Well one of two things are going to happen. Either I sell the Midget or slow it down.  I took on an older Mustang today. One that had a smaller engine then the other one. I hit that S curve at 70 plus mph and jammed it for all she was worth through out those two curves. I mean to tell you flat out...

She never broke and held it tight. Not once did I have to do a correction for tires breaking. This Midget is so low to the ground that the front anti sway bar will hit a parking curb in a parking lot. We are only talking 5 - 6 inches.  I know if I supercharge this car it is only going to be a matter of time before Susan is collecting insurance money. There are other things I can do to her to increase the HP, but I think that in my best interest, if not in Susan's best interest,  I better keep this Midget stock.
