I just received my pair of Bubba pucks from Chez (Thanks much Kirk!) and I had an observation....  These are HEAVY compared to a regular wood puck, any issues with these advancing, or potential wear and tear on the smoke generator itself?

Hi cingnut,

Bubba Pucks have been in use for a few years now and no-one has reported any issues regarding wear and tear or advancing, I have been using mine for a couple of years and feel confident that they cause no damage or problems.

However, this issue has arisen occasionally before on the forum, some people have drilled holes in them to reduce the weight but IMHO they are OK as they are.

Many, many, many, many cycles of testing resulted in the current design before the pucks "went public". No problems were found with current design and no known problems exist after a few years of sales worldwide. Drilling holes, (although do-able by the end user), "at the factory" would result in a costlier puck without any realized benefit over current design.

Probably too many words to say, "if it ain't broke......"  ;)

I've been using them quite a while. No problems.

The pucks are cool.  I did drill mine but the issue is not the pucks the issue is not cleaning out the smoke generator once in a while.  A little chip removal and cleaning and no issues with the pucks.  I like my lighter pucks but it is just an issue of extending lazy... I have finally gotten my self into the habit of cleaning out the generator after every half dozen of the weekends i use it and have never missed a feed since.  But hey, I have not done any other modifications so at least I can say I drilled my pucks.  ;D

Bubba Pucks rule!!!!

And no batteries required!! Now if I can only figure out which side is "up"!! ;)

Gizmo

Kummok, if you would have gone to the expense of drilling holes in it, it wouldn't have cost that much more to put arrows around the edge to show which end was up.   ;D
Every one knows it is "This side UP".
