I've been looking through all the post on fans. They look like a good idea. The only problems I see are that you have to order the fans, and this instal would definantly void your warranty.

Has anyone tried plain old dc computer fans? They wouldn't work for real hot temps., but I've used them in traditional smokehouses with temps up to 190 F with no problems.

If you have an account with Granger Supply they will even deliever it to your door if you don't want to go down and pick it up yourself. Problem? What problem...?

What is your basics for this statement. This addon does not change or alter in any fashion the design of the unit. No wiring is changed, nothing about the box is changed but one hole for the drive shaft and mounting screws, so please explain your reasoning.

I looked into this at one time...could not find one rated higher that 160F. Also the AC units were the only ones  I found that would work without an addon to convert the AC to DC...does $$$ come to mind(?), and heating 110 - 115 volt wiring to 190 F - 250 F of the wiring of the fan itself in IMO is / was a dumb idea in a metal box.  Plus the off-gassing of the plastic in those types of fans once heated did not sit well with me.

I suggest in the future that before you talk down a proven idea that you ask a few questions first.

Sorry I wasn't trying to ruffle any feathers, and by no means was I talking down a proven and great idea by the way.

Maybe I was wrong about the warranty. If so I am sorry for that assumption. Are you telling me that if I bore 3 holes through my cabinet Bradley is still going to warranty it? If so they have a much better warranty than anyone else I've ever heard of.

The dc fan thought was just that a thought. As stated earlir I've used them in wooden smokehouses with temps up to 190 F and they worked fine. Im still using my original 2 fans. They have over 60 hrs. on them.

DC converters my local computer shop gave me a hand full of them.

This idea was just something I wondered if would work in the bradley for low temps ; where someone might have the parts readily available and be able to try the fan idea with out boring holes through their cabinet.

Ok I can jump in on this one .......... nothing ruffles my feathers lol  8)........got gator hide any way.
as far as the comp motor thing you are now getting info from the cheapest red neck smoker that ocassionaly blogs on this site ....... if  i can't build it or make it cheap . I don't want it ........ did the comp motor thing for a while ........... it worked fine ........i had it mounted on top blowing down............. and I used my battery charger for the car to run it .......... clicked it on 12v 10 amp and whala. no special converter .......never went over 180 degrees ... ( make lots of venison sausage and sticks)........ but then after reading in here I ordered 1 from graingers .......... of course at that time some one had posted the wrong motorpart number and the stem was too short . so I cobbled an extention and that is what is in the bradley now ..... so check the shaft length BEFORE you order.............. but since all that conversion to the bradley I now use the smoke generator in my freezer conversion exclusivly......... seems that with the larger area in the smoker and a heating element that mostly covers the whole surface of the bottom panel temp fluxuations are not really an issue.. no  ROTATING of any of my food ......

... and just in case no one mentioned it ....  WELCOME  to the forum ..... where  ANY and  ALL  questions  are  WELCOME ..................... and we are all  OPEN for new and CREATIVE  ideas ..............  hell there are even about 6 of us may be that make our own PUCKS  in probably 6 DIFFERENT  ways.............

SMOKE ON!  HAVE FUN !  EAT WELL!  and most of all  BE  CREATVE ..... thats what makes the expirence! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
