my truck is mia... i gots problems...

my trailer is wired bassackwards and the wiring is buried in the walls making it unserviceable so i have to rig an adapter in the truck trailer electrical pig tail...

my rental has air brakes... my trailer has electric brakes... and the trailer brakes are on the same circuit as trailer brake lights...

the brake light circuit locks up my brakes because its not regulated with a brake controller... the turn signal circuit locks up my brakes because its not regulated with 1 way resistors...

so i need to install install a electric brake controller in the brake circuit to modulator the brake magnets and resistors in the brake light circuit to keep the turn signals from activating my brakes...

my question is... what radio shack resistor will stop 20amps / 14 volts one way and allow 20amps / 14 volts the other way...

i have the brake controller and the adapter all wired up... just need to score the resistors...

please if you know about resistors please share because im thinking the kid at radio shack aint gonna know...

here is my story as of 8pm last night...

what a freaking nightmare...

we were rolling south on the 5 heading back to cali from portland... we are 4/5ths the way up mt ashland and i start losing power and start blowing black smoke out the exhaust...

i keep the hammer down and make it to a short straight with a narrow shoulder and pull it over... the semis run on the shoulder there you know...

my temp gage was normal but the radiator was steaming like a moe... i let it cool down... check all the fluids... think it just overheated... i filled the radiator with water... turn the key on and all hell broke loose...

it fired and went to full on... it would not turn off by the key... i tried to rip the battery cables from the posts but the alternator would have kept it going anyway... so we vacated and watched as the engine ran away at full tilt until let out a enormous burp and stopped running... im talking full tilt... it was an amazing thing to see...

it was not until the smoke cleared that i noticed the entire pass was in a black smoke cloud and all traffic both ways had stopped because of zero visibility...

its was 8pm tuesday... our next job was 7am thursday... we score a tow out of yreka ca... we get in at 3am... being fairly certain the engine is a total meltdown and the only ford dealer being too busy to look at it immediately... we do a search for a single axle day cab tractor to haul our hearing testing trailer to vacaville...

the closest one was in sacremento... seems the ag industry has all the single axles leased out in oregon and california... i finally get a confirmation on the single axle... we gear up and ride the 300 miles to sac... we leave the bug eye brick at penske and head back to yreka...

we pick up the trailer in yreka and head to vacaville arriving at our 7am job at 6:30am... 1000 miles in 20 hours... 300 by bike and 700 by truck... its thursday morning and we are on 4 hours sleep since monday...

thursday was a 16 hour day... 7am to 9pm... we score a rental car on our lunch hour... at 9pm we go to sac and fetch the bug eye brick and take it to our hotel in cordelia... its now midnight but we go back to vacaville and haul our rig to fridays job in fairfiled... its now 2am friday and we are still on only 4 hours sleep since monday... but we at our hotel... we started today at 8am and went to 6pm... tomorrow is 4am to 6pm...

its friday night and now just 8 hours sleep since monday... im pumped up on espresso... trying to get another 7 hours sleep in tonight... sleep deprivation is a wacky deal... i got my primary alarm on... my back up alarm on... the hotel alarm on... and a wake up call ordered...

we are going to ride the bug eye brick to gilroy tomorrow night and come back and fetch the rig on sunday... we have a job in gilroy the tuesday after labor day... im hoping i have the f550 back by then so things can go back to normal...

micki of course slept all the way from yreka to vacaville but she is still an especially nagging wench today...

O,

Sounds like you need a diode, not a resistor.

Went on the Rad Shack web page. Closest I came to your needs is here:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062584&cp=&pg=1&sr=1&origkw=diodes&kw=diodes&parentPage=search

That is a 25 amp/50 volt full wave bridge. That that means is that it has four diodes in it. Easy to isolate one for your needs.
