Mr Walleye

With Remembrance Day tomorrow (Veterans Day in the USA I believe) I just thought I would post a link to an interesting article in our local paper.

I'm glad you enjoyed it guys. It always blows me away how every time I read through these poems it brings a tear to my eye at the horrendous sacrifice they made.......

The poem Flander's Fields always tugs on my heart strings.  This "reply" poem matches up nicely to the original.  Well done.

I like this song " A Pittance of Time" by Terry Kelly as well to clarify why we have a momemnt of silence each November 11th and to give me strength when some doofus doesn't repect that silence.

Whether active duty, retired, National Guard, or reserve is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life."
That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

You are so very right.  As much as I disliked the draft, one good thing that resulted from it is that all drafted persons were taught and exposed to honor, courage, commitment and pride.  Even the ones that rejected it new what it was and understood its meaning.

There are many of us that do understand that and can't begin to thank those that did write that check
