Well we all know how this works.  I do the work and it is Mother's garden ... LOL~~!

Anyway I found some Charleston Gray Watermelon seeds that she wanted. This was the watermelon of my youth. 2-3 feet long with a meat that the seedless melons today cannot match.

Here is an image of them:

That's the way it's supposed to work Raye!  ;)

After all.... Ya only get one Mother and the Lord knows she's always right! It just takes some (like me) a little longer to learn.  :)

WOW! Truly the "mother-of-all-melons" Olds! Looks like a sweet flavor explosion ready-to-blow! Do ya suppose that I could get one that size in the three days that the temps reach 70°F up here in June?? (Currently 22°F but climbing as snow threatens!  :o )

Have you ever seen an Earthbox? I have 3 of them, but mostly I have made my own. Some 8 feet long.

The Grays I'm growing are in an Earthbox. If you grow smaller to mid-size mellons you can grow them vertically on a fence by placing the mellon in a woman's (  ;D  ) panty hose and tie it to the fence. I have a very small growing area and I've hung mellons before... The Grays I'm not going to even try to hang.

Update...
Mother's garden is really taking off now. I love the closed gardening system I use. It utilizes all of the organic fertilizers and water I throw at it. Basically no waste.

The quality of taste from this type of organic gardening is unsupassed. If fact I have some sweet basil at the moment that is so pungent... so favorful that one leaf will exploded in your mouth.

Hey Olds...have 3 Earthboxes going right now...1 with herbs, 1 with Toms and the other with hot peppers!! They are very cool...the whole watering from the bottom thing is unusual but very effective.

Never seen an earthbox....are they difficult to make?

Olds, you got any pics of the garden?  I'd love to see them if you do.

We just bought them...but after seeing them "my assumption" would be no, they are not hard to make...look them up on the Intertnet and you can get an idea of the concept...pretty cool...

I just looked them up.....I'm wondering how in the world Olds made 8 foot ones.  But, he's always had a knack for ingenuity!
