Smoking Duck

Hey all,

I know I've been non-existent lately but I am now officially living back in the house again.  The place looks great.......new paint, new floors, new curtains, etc.  No real smell of smoke any more.  Just got to get some stuff replaced that didn't get through the fire very well.  Should be getting a new refer, oven and some furniture.  I do have my priorities in order and ordered a new Bradley first thing but didn't have anywhere to smoke it.  Now, I'm back in the saddle.  The apt we were living in had the worst internet connection so I've been without internet for basically 3 months and am now back on that highway.

Now, if I can find a job, life will be back to normal........oh well, at least I get to play golf regularly right now.  I'll be trying to get caught up on the goings on here as quickly as possible.

For all those that helped during the fire, my sincere gratitude goes out to all of you.........it's been a trying time and my back may have been broken, but my spirit never was.

Glad to have you back and recovering.  I lost everything to a fire years ago and I know it can be a hard road to travel.

Thanks all!  I've really missed my Smokin' kinfolk.  I've felt lost without it.  I can't tell you how much I really did miss coming on here....whether it was trying to find something new to smoke or just coming here for a laugh, this community is top-notch in my book.  I only hope I can help contribute in some way again.  I kinda feel like I've got to learn things all over again, but that's the beauty of smoking......even the foul-ups taste great!

Welcome back Duck. Now quit your whining and get back to smoking. ;) You know I'm just kidding, buddy. I've missed your posts and I'm really glad things are getting back in order for you. Been thinking about you and keeping an eye open for you to reappear! :)

Glad to hear the good news.  Now, IMO, you need to put the smoke smell back in the house.  I suggest apple and pecan, with maybe one or two maple thrown in.  And to season the smoke, I suggest babyback ribs, mustard slathered, and rubbed with a hot-sweet rub (basted in apple juice and, of course, glazed with Ice's sauce)

Welcome Back!

Thanks again, guys.  I like being thought about, but when people start talking, it's never good for me  :D.

Hey Consig, you read my mind on the ribs but I'm out of Iceman's sauce.  Gotta place another order for that.  I never have tried his rub yet.....the fire consumed his rub that I had.  Course, it was pretty funny watching the firemen take their breathing masks off and when they did, they were drooling  ;D.  It took me forever to get the firemen outta here, even after the fire was long done.  But, the hardest part was trying to get the bark off of them.
