From the posting about Mother's garden I got the feeling you are interested in organic gardening. Is this correct?

Hey Olds,

It is something I'd definitely like to get into.  Don't have any experience with it, but I've been looking around the internet and your set-up intrigued me.

I'll second SD's comment.  Intriguing.  I received an Aero Grow for Christmas and it did provide a nice little suppliment during the cold months, but I would like to have a little more space than what it can provide.  I don't have the yard space at this house so need to utilize alternatives.  The results you have shown are incredible.

Some of the members here have sent to me monies to help off set your loss. I'm going to take of those monies and purchase for you my "bible" of organic gardening. It is a set of 3 books:

1.  All-New Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening.
2.  The Organic Gardener's Handbook of Natural Insect and Disease Control
3. The Experts Book of Garden Hints... (my personal favorite--this one gives ya some ideas, as well as solutions.

What monies are left over I will send to you in a check.

Giz I have done the following. Works our real good. You can grow your spices (Basil, Parsley or flowers etc.) on the top and your tomato's out the bottom.  I did this off of the edge of the overhang of my roof one year.  Talk about making the most of your space...!

Ha ha ha... just plant the seeds upside down.... LOL~~! J/K!

What I did was to plant my tomatos normally. Once they got to be about 6-8 inches long I stripped everything off except the head of the plant then place the plant through the hole just past the head. Then filled up the bucket with my mixer and kept it well water. The body where I had stripped off all of the other stems etc. added to the root system.

Nice Olds,
I have seen the upside down tomatoes before but your method is even better as you make use of the top side.

Well, that is certainly an unexpected and much appreciated gesture.  I'm really at a loss for words.  This group is more than I deserve to say the least.  Tell you what, when I get back on my feet, there's a Bradley Smoker party in Elkhart IN!

You guys are way too much and from the bottom of my heart, again, THANK YOU!   :-*

Hey, Duck-How far are you from Louisville? We go up there several times every year on big race weekends (although not the Derby anymore). Gettting tired of seeing horses die, don't know how much longer I'll enjoy the "sport of kings", but we sure do love it up there.

Smoking Duck

I think it's about a 7 to 7.5 hour drive.  Not sure what it would be on a locomotive though  :D

I keep looking for you Ontrack.  We have more trains that go through this town than any other town I've lived in.  You can count on it like clockwork......as soon as I'm late for something, a train will be on the tracks!

I've never been much of a horseracing fan......I'll watch it if there's nothing else on or there's a horse that has a chance to win the Triple Crown.  Dang shame what happened to that horse yesterday.

Yeah...I'm with you guys...I cried...but I'm a girl...what a freakin shame...very sad...what a beautiful animal...

You won't see me on a train, Duck. I ride that truck on the track to make sure the trains can get across without having a big pileup. You're farther away from Louisville than I am. It's a 5 hour shot from here.

Smoking Duck

Well, my mind always goes to you when I see those trains (and don't take that the wrong way  ;D).  Most of the times when I see them, it's cause I'm at a RR crossing and the train is going sooooooo slow.  And then I start cussing myself for being late.  However, I gotta imagine with the cost of diesel these days that the train is a much more economical way to move freight.  I may be wrong about that, but it seems like the higher diesel prices go, the more trains I see.

I live right at the north-central part of Indiana (I can just about spit into Michigan), so anywhere south of me is gonna take about 7 hours just to get out of Indiana.

Puts a little warm spot in my heart to know somebody thinks of me from time to time, even if you are cussing. Is that a Norfolk Southern (NS) train that gets in your way going that slow? That's my RR, but we run freight at 60mph down here unless it would be an old branch line or industry track, and those are short trains.
