Glad they got there. Again, the book on Garden Hints has a ton of good ideas. I know you will enjoy that one.

Some of the biggest mistakes I've seen over the years are the following.
1. Growing the wrong type for a person's given area. Good example would be growing a Cherokee Purple (it is a tomato) in Alaska.
It is one of my favorites. Here is an image of them.

2. Not establishing a good growing medium. Trying to compensate with chemical fertilizers.
3. Removal of spiders. If there is one thing you want in your garden they are spiders. They eat a lot of the bad guys.

4. No companion planting -- this might be as simple as planting Yellow Cosmos flowers which will attract perdatory wasp. These little wasp just love the heck out of tomato horm worms. So much so they lay their eggs in them.  OUCHIE with those eggs hatch.

5. No toad hotels. (You will read about it in the Garden Hints.) Make sure to put in a water hole for them to drink water from. You do and they will be fat and sassy by eating everything that moves at night.

6. Lack of understand family groups. i.e. Tomato, Pepper, & Tobacco are of the same family--Night Shade and the importance of not rotating them back to back in the same soil for at least three years.

Organic garden can be fun. It does take a little time to get the hang of it. You might want to do a seach for Organic forums or an Organic Club in your area.

Good Luck and enjoy!
