Having read somewhere on this forum about widening the louvres I decides to try it on mine as It took a long time to do an eight lb. chicken. It made an amazing difference. Now when I have to open the door and the temp drops it takes no time to get up to temp again. You can actually see the needle on the guage climb. It should make for quicker snd better smokes. Dave

I need to widen mine. Did you cut any metal or just bend them open more?

pensrock

I was told by a Bradley tech to bend them open as far as you can with pliers. I did but then some of the drippings were falling through the openings so I closed them slightly, but they are much more open now than before. I called Bradley back and suggested they add two more louvers because there is planty of room to do so. They said they would look at the design.

Piker

I used a screwdriver and just widened them. There does not seem to be any more drippings getting thru to the bottom pan.

They did change the design, and the louvres "slots" now have a much wider opening.

Piker,

Thanks for the info. I have never heard about this and there could not be any thing easier to do.

I used a screwdriver on mine as well. It made a big difference! Thanks for the information.

Mr Walleye

I did the same thing using a screwdriver as well and it does seem to make a difference all right.

That's interesting Habs, I didn't know they had changed and made them wider. I wonder if they made them any larger. I ordered a bunch of stuff from Bryan at Yard and Pool and if I think I ordered a V pan. Can't remember, I ordered a whole wack of spare parts because they are cheep at the same time I ordered the new high temp screens.

Mike;

I think we are talking about the same dimension. In length they look to be the same, the opening is wider. I've been meaning to send Bryan a PM to see if they are in. I'm sure when he sees these posts he will respond.

Habs

I sent an email to Bryan sometime last week and if I remember correctly he indicated they should have them fairly soon. I emailed him from work so I don't have access to exactly what he said at home right now.
