SmokinGuitarPlayer

Hi folks,
We have been considering offering the Bradley line in our store (and website) but I have a question that I'm sure somebody can answer.... Can you cold smoke on these things, without making an external box rig?  Is there a new , more "cold smoking friendly" version coming out?   How are the digital models for sausage making / etc. ??  Ok..that's 3 questions , enough for now, thanks in advance for your help.

Hi SGP and welcome to the forum.

I do know Bradley are working on a prototype cold smoking box but my understanding is that it is still an external box rig. However if it is specifically designed by Bradley to be compatible with their smokers it may be more "cold smoking friendly".

That said the cardboard box method is dead simple to set up.

Quite when (and if!) it is going to be released I have no idea, I was told probably slightly over a year ago it would be available in around a year ..... i.e about now!  ::)

I did enquire a few weeks back but was told it is "still ongoing".

No news yet!

Can't help on the digital issue, I have an OBS.

The cardboard box method is very simple to set up and use.  Been using it for two years.  Can't imagine why someone would want to buy an add on unless it delivers refrigerated smoke for those in warmer areas.

Well a couple of things.

1. It's 102 here today (Southern New Jersey shore points) today in the shade so some sort of "cooling" would be necessary I guess. (I am not an expert for sure)

2. I just was speaking to Bradley sales (setting up our dealership etc) and the add-on will be available soon. That is all the info I have but should anybody want one, I am already committed to keep one in stock with the other units etc.

Thanks again for the tips.

If anyone has a suggestion as to what accessories I shouild stock and offer on our website, I would love to get tips maybe emailed off-list or whatever, thanks again.

The answer to your question is that you can cold smoke with it as it is set up but the caveat is that the ambient temp must be right to do it.  I never attempt to cold smoke when it's above 70F.  I've cold smoked when it was 60F  with the unit as is (placed ice in the water bowl with some more pans of ice inside the Bradley and never had the temp of the smoker get above 69F).  The other folks are spot on as well.  The cardboard box is extremely simple to set up and very cost effective as well.

Smokin Guitar, If you want to make a major breakthrough in the Bradley business, I would focus on things that Us smokers use the most.
bisquites is probably the most consumed item, and then how about rubs and cures or sauces that are unique. And the the generic vac bags that we all seem to use a lot of. Just spend some time on the forum, see what people are doing and build from there. If you don't
I will when I retire. I think it would be a fun biz!
