Well the gullbladder is out and I'm still sore but recovering. It took the surgeon 2 hours vs the 1 H 15m he thought it would take, he said he had to move things around some? Not real sure what that meant. Found out yesterday he wants me to stay off work till the 15th. The operation was on the 19th. I really hope I can get back to work sooner than that. I know this week is out because it hurt a lot just driving four miles to the Dr. office and I have to drive 35 miles each way for work. He said the five cuts are healing pretty well but since an organ was removed and me being diabetic it will take some time to heal inside.

I have been lurking since last Thursday off and on but uncomfortable sitting for any legnth of time at the computer so I would read posts but not able to answer any of them.

I just wanted to explain to my friends why I have been away. I hope to be able to get on and post a little more as I feel better.

Good smokin!  :)

Pens,
Glad to hear all went well my friend.  Don't rush the recovery time.  In the long run, you could do more harm than good.  Rest easy.

Thanks everyone.

I had my sis pick up a small brisket for me. Its in the fridge aging as we speak. I don't think I can wait as long as WTS does but will let it go a week. So next week I'll be trying it out. I've never done brisket before but after reading all the posts, feel very comfortable in giving it a try. Its only 8-1/2 pounds, I wanted ten or eleven pounds. But she said all the others were 14-15 pounds. So I guess this will work for me. By next week I hope to be feeling better so tending the smoker should not be a problem. Actually it will give me something to do rather than walking around the yard and basiclly doing nothing constructive. Got to figure a way to cut the grass though. Maybe a little each day, but an acre is a lot to mow.

Thanks again for the welcome back and the well wishes.  :)
Its great to be back!

Don't over do it. I think I found that out today. Was feeling pretty good so I did a couple loads of laundry and went into town to visit my dad who is recovering from a badly infected foot and is also diabetic and picked up a few groceries at the market. I swear thats all I did but tonight I'm really sore. Guess I'll have to slow down even more for a while. I'm just not used to sitting around all day.
