I just got the Maverick ET-73 I ordered from Yard & Pool today. It came lightening speed fast :D

This is very nice and I'm real happy I got it. This also shows the temp of the smoke chamber as well as food temp. My father, uncle and I already tested it 'they were inside, I went outside' and no interferance. The wireless works great.

It came in more then enough time to play with it, get use to it before smoking my ham for Thanks Giving.

Nice alarm on it also. Most likely Ill stay up watching old westerns or cheesy horror movies all night while it cooks. With that, I know Ill fall asleep at times, and the alarm will definatly wake me up when there is a change in temp.

Originally I was going to go with the Mav ET 72 which Im sure is really great, anything is better then the only annolouge dial I use to use, but I'm very happy Brian at Y&P told me about this one.

Im sure all the pro smokers here are well aware of the Maverick ET-73, but just wanted to point this out for any new members just starting out.

Thanks again Brian, Yard & Pool rules :D

Hi Stargazer, yes the ET-73 is without doubt a must have with the BS, very handy piece of kit for sure.
They are not available over here in the u.k. but a while back, Chez bubba (Kirk) kindly sent one over for me, along with three Bubba pucks  ;)

I had a few issues with the range on mine, and finaly found the courage to do a mod on it which adds an antenna to the receiver. It made a big difference to mine, and it still works fine to this day.

From what i've read the latest ET-73's are all ok now with the range etc?

Anyway, for those that are interested, here's the info on the antenna mod:

Hello from Kentucky LilSmoker.

I'm not sure if I can get the range it claims '100 feet I belive'. When I tested it earlier, I really only needed about, erm, maybe 10 to 15 feet at most. I live in a small town home with a back porch for my smoker.

I don't have a Bradley yet, I'm waiting to move then have it delivered to my new place instead of lug it around, although I don't know if I can wait one or two months to do that  :-\

Currently using a bullet smoker, hey, it gets the job done, but the Bradley will spoil me when time comes :D

Back to the Maverick though, that really is a nice and much needed piece of equiptment. Now I can't see how I smoked meats for the past year with out it. Sure beats an old annolouge dial thermometer thats for sure.

However, at my new place, 'my fathers home' I just might very well need to modify it, so thank you very kindly for the link for this  :D
