First Roast

I just got my OBs this fall and mostly was smoking salmon from this summers catch, but with fishing minimal now i decided to try something new..  after seeing great pics like Beefman's roasts and ribs thought i would try it and share my first attempt at a venison shoulder roast...

started off trimmed and washed
Then the oil with crushed garlic

after a few hours then came the rub

Heading to the smoker to soak in some Hickory...
Which is also the first time i have tried hickory...
After smoking and the FTC (which i just learned about from the forum as well) this is what i got...


I am hooked now, and want to start smoking everything!!

Your roast looks incredible, but I am more jealous of your Kokanee beer! Wish that brew would sift down to California!  :D

JD Now that's a shoulder i could lean on!!! and Devour.

Thanks guys..  SS ya i love Kokanee  "It's the beer up here"  lol.
and ya the ol lady dished me up and she likes the veggies...
I have some more tweaking to do for sure but like you said tenpoint even the mistakes taste good!

Looks great JD!  Nice job on the first roast.  Smoking is extremely addictive and only the most deviant food people need apply  ;D
