Below is one before and after picture that I resized. There is much photos like these on the DigitalGlobe site with much more clarity than this picture. I read in today's paper where a women who lived on this Island that her home or her land now is part of the sea.... damn I cannot even fathom what these people are going though. Today's paper also said that they were burying babies by the thousands.....

I have some videos but I will not openly post them for downloading. The world is looking for videos concerning this matter and when they find them that site's bandwidth is killed. If you want them be warned they are several megs in total. The only way I will give out the addy for downloading is a person has to be on MSN Messenger and talking with me at the time. My addy for MSN is [email protected] . At that point I will set up a temp 10-20 minute window for downloading. Then I will break the link. These are real damn scary... If BS owns its own server/ and its pipe is limited only by KB load and not a monthly total KB I can set up the links for them and they can then host the downloads. Even then I don't know if I would do it. As soon as the world got word of the links this posting board would almost stop moving due to the traffic.

Those here who have web-sites I sure understand bandwidth over charges when you don't own the server. (Which by the 3rd quarter of 05 I will have my own server--as I told my wife...one way or another and it will be a kick A$$ deal. I'm tired of the limition and cost.)

It's truly impossible to image what 100,000+ people dying within a few minutes is really like. Add to that the huge number of children killed, and the horrible effects of this disaster are magnified by an order of magnitude. In addition, the public health folks at my place are saying that there are almost certainly tens of thousands of people who have died that will never be counted because there was never any record of their birth or existence

Several of my PH colleagues have alrady left for India to help out with the efforts, and our Asian students (we have a large contingent) have organized a cash donation drive within the school that nearly 90% of the faculty have pledged $$ to (we hope to get the other 10% when they return from break).

Makes you realize how much you have to be thankful for . . .

In the Satellite Photos when you get further down into them there is an Island that looks like it has been cut into two pieces.

Absolutely tragic! God rest their souls. Do me a favor, and instead of ordering bisquettes or whatever this week, donate the money towards the victims via an agency of your choice. These people need our help. You have to remember the true priorities.[:(]

Other things in life seem so minor when you see tragedies like this. The scars on the land will heal with rebuilding. The scars on the people will linger forever. It certainly makes the minor hurdles in our lives seem so insignificant, trivial and unimportant!

This morning, even at age 60, I was wondering how I could adopt a child left without parents. The news reports that people are picking up kids, feeding them - luring them with food, then selling them into sexual slavery. Worms like this should be shot!

In general I agree Bill, except for the "shot" part. I think that's way too easy an end, for such a predator, as the vermin you speak of.

I've already seen the newspaper reports of "people" (I use that term loosely) who pose as canvassers to the relief effort in Asia as a scam. There may be many organizations that will help, but if you don't know who they are, don't give. I see no reason to send money to anywhere other than the Red Cross or Unicef, or some other famous, reputable, organization.
