I am currently brining six racks worth of spring and coho strips for a xmas smoke and I am not looking forward to scraping off the broken bits from my current racks. 2 weeks ago I did some almonds and had to improvise with some aluminum foil to make it work. So I am in the market for new racks and have 2 questions: Now that you guys have used the new racks for several months, how are they standing up? And, for any Canuckleheads (Mr Walleye?) who have ordered from Bryan at Yard and Pool, did you get dinged for brokerage fees at the border, or did you get it shipped usps?

T2,
I ordered the high temp screens from Bryan at Yard and Pool and am well pleased with them.  Just did 3 pounds of almonds on them and they work great for nuts and everything else.  I use the screens everytime I smoke now because they don't stick.  The non-stick coated Bradley jerky screens are not all that good and the non-stick will flake off on to your food.  I have the 4 original Bradley racks and the Bradley non-stick coated racks and 8 of the high temp screen inserts for all of them so when I am double stacking racks for salmon, etc.

I got my high temp screens from Bryan at Yard & Pool. Just make sure you get Bryan to send them USPS and not UPS. I know your aware of the outrages brokers fees that UPS charges. At the same time I went through Bryan's web site and bought a bunch of other goodies as well.  ::)

I just use the high temp screens on regular racks. When I did salmon (no skin) I gave them a quick shot of Pam and I had absolutely no sticking. I use the high temp screens for pretty much everything. I'd buy them again in the blink of an eye T2.

I'm with Mike, I use them for everything!  One of the best investments for the smoker...I hate clean up and these help dramaticly!

Thanks boys, that's pretty much what I figured. I'll order some up right now. I have to say this forum is the greatest for a lot of different things, one of which is great information. I've got a couple of weeks off and I've been cleaning out my freezer of odds and sods to smoke since it's too much like winter here to go fishing. 14" of snow and still coming down. The closest I got to any fishing is to go out and brush the snow off my boat canvas so it doesn't collapse. Kummok--if you're reading this--just send the fish, not the snow. ;D

I have had the screens for about a year.  I did a considerable amount of testing of the hi temp screens when I first received some samples from a distributer.  I have used them in the oven at 400 degrees.  I have also taken some of the samples I receive and put them on a grill over 500 degrees.  The screens held up at around 500 degrees but did start to deteriorate after getting well over 500 degrees.
For smoking, they are worth the cost and you will be pleasantly surprised at how quick clean up is (comparatively) once you start using them.

Thanks Giz--I tried to order them tonight on the net but couldn't because the Y and P site doesn't allow Canadians to order online. I'll phone them on Monday.

I have the screens, I echo what the others said. I use them for everything.
