This technique just cries for someone to market a box...either stainless or black to match your smoker, with flange attachement on one end to just attach to the BS cabinet and the box with hanging pins to insert the smoke generator and a door to change the water.  I would feel a little uneasy using a cardboard box because of the flammability of cardboard although I will probably try it irregardless of my concerns about fire risk.

No problem with what you did. That's better, as you stated about links, if that person moves the site, we will loose the information.

Someone had posted instructions on how to build a plywood one. There seemed to be some controversy as to whether it was safe. The issue was, if the plywood got damp, would airborne bacteria breed and spread, then be transferred to the meat. The other issue was about the glue that is used to manufacture the plywood may be toxic. So I decided not to post it. Olds, you did suggest that the person use hard wood instead. Do you feel those instructions should be posted on the site?

Yes I do as for more years then not hardwood smokers have been around. I would make a point of not using galvanized nails or screws.
