It is 10:00PM daylight savings time.  In about 3 hours Jan and I board the train and 13 hours later arrive in our very favorite city.  To say we are ready to be there would be understated.  NePaS knows exactly what I'm talking about.

Jan and I wish everyone the happiest Easter.  Please refrain from smoking the Easter Bunny but if you can't help yourself, post pics! :D

LQ - New Orleans is like Vegas in one very important respect - What happens there, stays there!

KyNola - Don't forget to try Jacques Imo's (closed Sunday, no reservations for parties of 1-4, opens at 5:30) and leave me some softshell crabs, oysters, and mudbugs - I'll be there in 13 days, but who's counting?.

Hope you all have an enjoyable trip and safe as well.

Yes, but this probably isn't the place to discuss it.

Nawlins - The only place I've ever visited and never had to "ask" for a bottle of Tabasco  ;D

Check out Dragos for the oysters char grilled over oak - they serve in in a pool of smokey butter with a loaf of crispy French bread. So addicting, we'll eat em for breakfast on the day we leave town.

Sounds like you and Jan will have a great time. I have never had the chance to go to Nawlins but would love to some time.

GREAT place to visit!  I live about 3 to 3.5 hours from it.  Fell in love with my wife there.  Have not been back since the Hurricane tore it up.

You and Jan have a great trip. Wish I could get down that way with Ann. Take care and ENJOY!!!  ;D

LQ, don't care what our friend from Hawaii says.  No, there is nothing better than a fried soft shell crab in NOLA.

We have been going to NOLA very regularly for about 20 years so you don't think you can encounter a "first".  Well, we were wrong.  Our train HIT A FREAKIN' PICKUP TRUCK!!! We were only delayed for about 45 minutes so the folks bringing me a beer in the dining car said we probably didn't kill the driver or we would have been there for 2-3 hours.

Hope everyone had a great Easter.

If it's the South I grew up in, the driver's last words before the accident were, "Hold my beer and watch this!"
