OK here it is. I have been asked to do a ONE ingredient Iron Chef. SO here it goes, Same basic rules still apply.
Basic Iron Chef rules:
Be creative on your recipes.
It can be as simple as a new ABT or a recipe that would take a snooty waiter in a fancy-schmancy restaurant 10 minutes to describe.
At least 80% of the cook time must be done in the Bradley Smoker, grill or other outdoor cooking method. Up to 20% of the cook time can be done on the stove, oven.
Use any spices or pre-made BBQ sauces, or other goodies as you wish.
The recipe is not limited to just the main ingredient. Your pantry is open and anything is fair game to be used in your recipe.
It can be breakfast, brunch, lunch, or supper, or midnight snack.
The Ingredient since the majority of folks have some:
LEFT OVER TURKEY
hmmmmm, left over turkey, I think I got some of that ;D
Out of Three Turkeys I smoked/brined/BE/TRaegered, I do not have a drop of Turkey.
King Kong is gone, but the funny thing is, the Tripthan (or whatever it is) hasn't kicked in ye...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Okay, my attempt at being funny. Currently don't have an idea that can be done with an outdoor method unless I would happen to move my microwave outside, and that ain't gonna happen.
The only thing I can do with what is left of my cured turkey is make a stock. It disappeared. I do have plenty of plan B turkey left so I'm in.

If my house guests eat all the turkey, I have a back up turkey breast in the freezer :D

I've got a little bit left... ;)
Only got a couple of sandwiches worth. It all went.
What's the cutoff date? The grocery stores are all near the mega congested 'Black Friday' shopping areas..
Although, I think I can pull something together with stuff from the fridge/freezer/pantry.
I don't care. Should we do One ingredient = One week or go with the traditional 2 weeks?
I vote one week. I already did mine.
Works for me.. I'm doing mine tomorrow. (only day w/ decent weather)
As us Canadians were premature with our Thanksgiving celebrations, we could only offer virtual left over turkey.
Good luck all
A "Virtual Left Over Turkey ICB" is probably something that will happen one day. ;D ;D ::)
10.5,
I'm going to vote for 2 weeks.
Carolyn
Regretfully, I can't compete. Fairly small bird this year, about 15 pounds, so I could stuff it into the BE. Six people TG day, more scavengers today (Can I take some home?) including fighting off the cats. Not much left. But, that's a good thing.
I'll eagerly await the results.

Let's go for the 2 weeks to allow others to catch up from the holidays and participate.
So far, it's just me, Deb and Thibodeaux ;).
TWO WEEKS IT IS.
Which is good I might have time to thaw a bird out and actually cook it. Since we didn't cook anything this year. Depends on how the deer hunting goes this weekedn I might be busy doing other things.
Did anyone actually do this?? And do I have to post a turn in thread?
Chris, I didn't as I had no left over Turkey.

I believe the Ragin Cajun (Ron) and myself completed our entries last weekend..
Chris
I wish I could participate but my recent travel schedule had me negate on a promise to do the turkey on TG day for my American friends here. I guess I will have to catch the ICB the next time around.

When would be the turn in date?

When would be the turn in date?
I am planning on competing but I am a little confused. Was it starting in two weeks (from the 11/27) or was the deadline in two weeks from 10.5's post?
I think if there is less than 5 interested maybe we should postpone and start a new one after the holidays.
Maybe we should have an informal poll on this thread to see who is willing post an entry.
I'm in,
Carolyn
Carolyn, I think you would make four. All I brought home was bones and got a 1/2 gal of stock and enough Turkey to make Turkey and noodles.

You should have taken pics :D
I held off until my house guests left and actually started my entry today. If this ICB gets scrapped I post what I did anyways
Carolyn
Turnin would have been this coming friday. But I think we should srcap this until the new year but If you want me to do a turn ing thread I will My turkey's are still in a deep freeze state.
Jan made smoked turkey and dumplings from the turkey breasts left from Thanksgiving. KILLER!

I'm fine with that. :)
I think folks feel a bit sapped on energy when dealing with the holidays.
It's hard to focus on a creative project when you're wondering how you're going to pay for everything :-\

I'll post mine if you want to post what you've done. I think Ron did one as well.
It's nothing special... But I did spend some time putting it together.
I'm out on this one. I had planned on doing yesterday but it took me 7 1/2 hours to go what is usually a 3 hour drive. 3 hours or so was with a young tow truck driver who had only been driving a tow truck for a couple weeks and had trouble keeping the truck in his lane and was a little stressful. Today I get to deal with figuring out why my trailblazer went crunch, sounded like something dropped, smelled hot and had smoke coming out of the hood >:( :( :'(
So, long story short, I have no Iron Chef entry - I do have a recipe drafted though!!

Hey instead of an official ICB thread with a poll, we could just have a thread showing what we did with left over turkey :D
