So I got 3 butts and 3 rubs

STC, if you don't see it in the spice section look around the Latin foods (Mexican, Spanish). Goya is one very common brand I know and they have several versions.

Awesome job SSE!
That last one has SOME bark!
Wow!
Would Batman care to share his rub recipe? That is some serious bark..
How large are those butts? At what temp did you cook? I think my OBS would have a hard time cooking that much meat. Would be lucky if CT (cabinet temperature) would rise past 190.
Nice job. Great looking bark.
Some serious Bark there Snelly!!

Well, maybe he'd like to trade for some pre-mixed!
Batman! Would you deny your fellow brothers of the Forum the secrets of your rub?
People that love you, Wished you Happy Birthday. ;D
I would NEVER kick you off my softball team! ;D
Snelly - which one do you think tastes best?
STC - I got a bottle of Adobo when we were at Penzey's in STL - Grab some when you come get your MONSTA load of other stuff.

Man the Butts were a hit! I had a lot of compliments. The unanimous winner was Batman's Rub with Famous Daves BBQ Sauce but Jan's Rub with Pats was a very close second. I must admit the I have always liked Pats the best but after finding Famous Dave's in Cali (I have tried it before at Batman's house) and bringing some home I have a new favorite sauce for my Butts. I also enjoyed the Carolina Treet but I am not sure people in FL who are not accustomed to True BBQ can appreciate a Carolina Vinegar based sauce.

Before any sauce was added I think I liked the but with Jan's rub on it. But after all I like salt and Jan's rub has a lot of salt in it.
IMHO, the CT is a great "cooking" sauce, but it is not for tableside.
It does go great with Vaunted Vinegar, but you're right, most people down here flock to the sweet goopy stuff.

I agree as well. I added all the sauces on Sunday when I was reheating the 3 butts. I also reheated with beef broth in each cock pot.
You did nothing wrong Matt but, I always serve the sauce on the side. I figure I (You) went through a lot of trouble to get the flavors and smoke into that butt. I don't want to cover it all up with the flavor of BBQ Sauce. Folks are then judging based on the sauce taste rather than the taste of the meat.
What 10.5 said. ;D
Since I reheated the butts at my mom's house she just had to take picture and plaster them all over facebook. Here's one
(http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i82/matts887/PullinPork.jpg)
this was her quote "Regardless....the mouth-watering aroma escaping from those 3 crockpots was overwhelmingly wonderful!"

I have found that a lot of people on the forum serve it that, but that being said I live in florida and a lot of people down here dont know "true" bbq. Basically BBQ down here is defined as a cookout. The crockpot with the CT was basically plain. There was only really about a 1/4 bottle of CT in the cook and thats the one that had the most left.
Thanks guys for all the comments and praise. I love it when it all comes together and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Yep. You can even use them to lift hot roasts, turkeys, etc. I shredded 40 pounds of pulled pork this weekend with mine. Didn't take long at all. (relatively speaking) Just toss in the dishwasher when done.
Now I've seen this still secret thing 10.5 is taking about... Off.The.Charts.In-sane. But I want one!

Question on the bear paws, when you use them for pork do you still need to pull off the bark and chop it or will they pretty much shred it up with the rest of the meat?

When I do butts, I "crack open" the butt with the paws, and let it cool a little. Then I get rid of any pockets of fat I can find, kinda separating the butt into "muscle groups"
Then I just kind of pile all that on one side of the cutting board and go at it with the paws. The bark gets shredded along with the meat.

Only if I have any extra hard/chunky bark.. Then I'll scrape it to the side and chop. (or just use my kitchen shears)

I have a LOT of family in FL, and they've been there
since the formation of our galaxy...
Some in Tallahassee, and LOTS in central Florida (a bunch near Gainesville), some near St. Augustine, others scattered about, and my momma lives just north of Tampa (she was born in Tampa). STC has met
a bunch of 'em...
Ask him if they ain't "genuine" swamp dwellers ;D
