Title: Pig on Pig on Pig on Home Made New England Style Hot Dog Bun from My Starter
Post by: classicrockgriller on August 03, 2010, 09:52:02 AM
The subject of New England style hot dog buns was brought up by mikeradio ....

http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=17133.0

I made these in Bread Pans with a weighted cover. I cut off the ends and sliced them to size.

This first one is a Bacon (Pig) wrapped hot dog (Pig) and a wopple of pulled pork (Pig) on a toasted starter bun.

These were made with some pulled chicken and Col. Pooles BBQ sauce

Those sure look good CRG.  Buns look awesome!

I love the Pig triple play, but think I'd need to have side of Zantac to enjoy 'em.   ;D

Gus is working on me some starter, so who knows what will be coming soon from one (or both) of us? I love yeast tasting bread and have tried several times to come up with my own  Schlotzsky's  (http://www.schlotzskys.com/) style bun.

Maybe this will help? But if anyone has figured this out already, I'm the guy that wants to know! Because Schlotzsky's has the best buns in town!  ;D

Holy Crap, that looks good Sonny. Did you ever post the mix of your original starter?

CRG,

How many rolls did you get out of a bread pan?

I got 5 fat ones and 6 skinny ones. The fat ones are the best.

The butter on the sweet bread and the mixture of the pulled pork and a little sauce was

a party all mixed together.

I bought this to help with the toasting.
