Balancing food safety and time management

As you know fireworks are illegal in so cal so have never been able to teach the kids when they were young all the stupid stuff I did as a kid.  Visited my brother in law in the Sacramento area one year during the 4th when the kids were young and we did do some fireworks there so the kids were not totaly denied the fun of heritage, although his neighbor and best friend is a fireman so everything was properly prepared and supervised.

We just hang out on the back patio now and watch 2 sets of fireworks a few miles away that are being done at high schools.  Don't have to fight the traffic and can enjoy food and beverage if desired.
