Husker #13

I'm heading on a football road trip this weekend with some former college buddies. I've cooked ribs, pork butts, briskets, etc. on my Bradley over the past year. Absolutely love my BDS and the forum board as well. I havent cooked a fatty yet, so I'm requesting your personal favorites. My friends have heard me rave about the BDS, so I could use a few ideas to impress them for a road trip this weekend. We always "one up" each other, so this is my time to "smoke them" (literally with the BDS) with an awesome fatty or other ideas. The cheeseburger fatty posted below looks great. OU- I know you're a Husker fan, can you help me out for my road trip to the Iowa State game?

I made ABT's on our last road trip and they were a huge hit. Any other unique tailgating recipes or tips for smoking a fatty are appreciated. Thanks in advance for everyone's help... Love this forum board!!!

Some people are like Slinkies... They're really good for nothing.
...But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

Oh Caney ... where are you ?

Haven't seen Caneyscud here in a week or so, but he may be along at any time. In the meantime take a look at his Tale if Six Fatties for some ideas.

This isn't a fatty but is good.

Make sausage and pepper buns.

You'll need enough Italian sausage for the crowd, hot or sweet or a mix, depending on your preference.

The sausage goes on the top rack.  Slice a few onions into rings.  Hold the rings together with toothpicks inserted horizontally.  They go below the sausage.

Cut some red and green bell peppers up, seeded, 'cup' side up.  Add some minced garlic into the cups.  They go below the onions.  Add any other herbs you might like.

Smoke with hickory until the sausage is done, 2-3 hours.  Cut everything up a little in a bowl.  Add some OO.

Get some fresh, crispy buns.  Pull some of the soft center bread out and stuff 'em, with the sausage and pepper mix.  Hard to go wrong.
