I was a good son today.  I took my father, mother and son to Old Germany.

DM, I love German food.  I am heading your way.  I am hungrrry

bears fan

I'll be smoking a whole chicken that I will soon be taking out of the brine I've had it in for 4.5 hours.  Going to use my new auber pid I received early for fathers day.  Looking forward to using it.  Will also slice up some potatos and put in foil with butter and onions and peppers for a little grill action.  Adult beverages will also be in the mix as well.

Happy Father's day to the rest of the dad's out there.

I told the wife I wanted to have some of my friends over with their families and have a cook-out/pool party.  I had a whole beef tenderloin that I got a while back so I decided to roast that.  No slow and low for this cow.  I seared it and then roasted it until the IT was 120.  I made some bernaise sauce and my own special red wine reduction sauce... MMMMMM  Great Eats...

DM - I like German food too - being German.  There's a local German restaurant.  After getting my appetizer of two potato pancakes for $8.00 I crossed them off my list.

Snelly - The tenderloin sounds good.  I love the Bernaise but it's really 'rich'.

Sounds like everyone had a good day, pizza included  ;D

Personally, I am not a big fan of the Bearnaise sauce.  I just make it cause my guests seem to like it.  I like the red wine sauce best but some people are turned off from the shrooms.

Snelly - You didn't mention the shrooms in your post.

I like any kind any way.  My father was from Germany and he knew which ones to pick in the woods.  I wouldn't trust my self on that.

Yeah I sauteed some shrooms in my sauce.  The wife doesnt like the shrooms but she loves the sauce??? Here's what I did
suateed shrooms in EVOO and the drippings from the seared tenderloin
red wine
beef broth
garlic
milk
and I used sour cream to thinkin the sauce (usually use cream but ran out)

I was know to pick a few shrooms back in my younger daze....   ;D :-X
