:D ;D :D ;D

You Guys are Funny. ;D

We all meet around 4:30 at Laundry's in the Woodlands.

Had a GREAT meal with some Great people (Rick and Virginia) and afterwards

worked our way over to Cynthia Woods Pavilion.

It was HOT! Rick and Virginia are not use to the South Texas humidity

AND I don't like it.

ZZ Top was great. Their voices may not be quite as crisp and clear

as it was when they were younger, but the music has not suffered at all.

They did a cover of "Hey Joe" in Honor of Hendrix that was just screamin.

I can't get the song out of my head.

Gibbons brought his Mom on Stage in a wheel chair and she gave him a Kiss,

pretty kewl. They could have turned UP the voice mic a little for both groups.

ZZ still ROCKS! These guys are in their 60's. I saw them In '69 or '70 in Groves, Tx

for $.50. ;D

Tom Petty was pretty good also, but I have enjoyed him more in other concerts.

He played several songs from his new album "Mojo" and the music has gotten a

little heavier in the lead guitar area.

Mike Cambell (lead guitarist) is just awesome.

We had a great time and was kinda sad to say "Good-Bye" to the Gizmos'.

I did get a sweaty hug from Rick. ;D

I think they had plans to leave Texas today and start the trip back home.

INFO for Ka Honu ..... Frank Beard still does not have a Beard, but he does have a Mustache. ;D

Sounds like you guys had a good time.

Gizmo

It was a super great time.  Unfortunately my phone did not get the picture of the "ClassicRockListener" that I thought I was going to be able to post.

It was hot in Texas but fortunately the daily Texas Car Wash apparently kept the temps down for us, only 80s to mid 90s.  Of course on the trip home it was 107 to 114 through Arizona but that was cooler (no humidity)  :D .  Now we have 101 here at home.

Mr. and Mrs. CRG were great hosts for us.  Very good selection on Landry's and the concert was awesome even without the airconditioning.

Again, thank you both for a great time.

Maybe he forgot the old rule Puff Puff Pass and just Bogarted it!!

You know come to think of it, Gibbons did break one out on stage in a reference to farming in Cali but that was last we saw of it.  :o

Laundry's was great!

I had grilled Alaskan Salmon with tampura battered slices of sweet potato, mushroom buttons, and

asparagus spears. (they did assure me it was NOT farm raised Salmon)

Giz and Wifey had grilled bacon wrapped seafood stuffed shrimp. Mrs Giz had grilled Tuna.

I think it was a nice change for the Giz's as they have eaten at BBQ joints all over Texas all week.

Nice salad with a sweet vinegarette dressing and hot bread.

No room for desert. ;D

You THINK?

Gez, wish you would have said that yesterday!

Traded her in for a new buick!

classicrockgriller

Gizmo, the concert should have been tonite.

High today was 81* and low tonite is 56* and .....

20% humidity.

Can't believe I missed this thread !  Sounds like everyone had a great time.  CRG, you should be writing reviews for Rolling Stone, a great rundown.

The Gizmo's are great folks.  I hope in spite of the weather (hit TX during the monsoon season) they enjoyed themselves.  Unfortunately just as the weather broke here they ended up in a record setting heat wave in CA.  As they say around here, y'all come back real soon.

And yes CRG, you did as good as you're going to do and better than you should have.  Try trading her in on that Buick and Lenny's menu may become a reality.    :o  ???  ;D

Unless it was the Texas version of The French Laundry in Napa!

Did they sing Okie from Muskogee?  Wait that was Merle!  Guess they didn't play any Waylon or Willie songs either!  Back in early 70's ZZ played in my High School Gym.  Even though I didn't go, I still heard them.  My house was two short blocks from the gym.  Liked it so much, a friend and I decided to go check our coon traps (see another thread).   ;D ;D ;D

Glad you, the missus and some friends could have a good time despite the surprise heat in Texas!

Tom Petty is one of the few groups that don't have a corporate sponsor.

He choose that route. On this "Mojo Tour" You got a free download of his

latest CD "Mojo" and later you get a 8 song download of live song tracks

from the tour with each ticket purchase. Pretty nice but don't know if it

off sets the high ticket prices and $45 for a concert T-shirt.
