Got me a big ole box today, used my points from using my card so this baby didnt cost me a thing.  ;D

Some assembly required.  ;)

Now I just need to figure out how to use this thingy.  ::)

I've herd you cant use a glass top stove with this thing, is there any truth to that?

Then I was figuring ok I'll use the gas burner from my turkey fryer and wouldnt ya know theres a big yellow card that says

"CAUTION Do not use pressure canner on any outdoor heat source such as a gas burner for a turkey fryer." #!@$%#^!!!!!  >:(

Any body got a reason you cant use the fryer burner? Its got an adjustable pressure regulator so I can adjust the heat on it.

Aint even got this thingy cleaned up and I'm allready running into road blocks.  :-\

I had a smaller model (probably 1/2 that size- at least) and used it on a glass stove top just fine.   It just takes some wrangling to get the heat dialed in just right.

Perhaps they were worried about the weight when it was full?

I bet it would work fine on your Turkey fryer, just dialed down to 'low'.

Thanks for the encouragement Pat.

I have a stock pot thats bigger than this thingy and cook with it all the time on my glass top and I heat a big ole pot of water when were in sweet corn season on the turkey fryer burner with out boiling the water, so I know I can turn the heat down low enough to be safe.

devo

The warning is you could crack the top of your stove but lots of people ignor the warning

I'm thinkin I wont crack the top cause the main burner, front right, it has 2 elements, one small inner element about the size of a normal pan and an outer one about the size as this thingy.

I'm feeling better about this more and more, might be the Jack though.  ::)

Hey OU812,

I have one just like that and it's about 30 years old. Wouldn't hesitate at all to use it on a turkey fryer.

Guessing they are just covering their own a$$ in case some one didn't control the temp.

Just make sure the seal is good and keep an eye on the pressure. Also it's a good idea to have the pressure gauge checked once a year. Contact your local University extension office about that, by us they will do it for you.

We have had a pressure cooker for over forty years and used on glass top stove for at least 5 years but never used on the turkey fryer, but I don't know why you can't as long as you are paying attention...
