I have the 6 rack digital smoker, and love it, but i have chosen to only do meat in it. I do have another smoker box for fish and i want to use just the digital smoker box and attach it in my old smoker, I tried it today and it just beeps and will not work. Any ideas how i can get it going? I dont want to buy another smoke generater when i have one that will do the job.

Toker

Did you plug the sensor cable? Do you see E1 error, If so, your sensor cable is not attached correctly.

Rye-Guy

Yes i see
E1 so i plugged the sensor cable to the back of my smoker but dont have an inlet in my other smoker as it is homemade

Toker

Well, i have no experience with home made box all i know, with digital smoke generator it absolutly need to be connected or it won'T start. You should call Bradley on Monday to buy a bypass plug around 5$. It is a safty feature on the digital unit.

Keymaster

I think you might need This Not sure if it would plug right into the cord but you could definately get the plug. I think this would get rid of the error code and allow you to run the smoke generator. Lets see what others say before you decide to order this part.

Toker

Sorry Keymaster, on his digital box he already have it. What I'M talking about, is the little plug that comes with the cold smoke adapter. Every digital smoker are equipped with the sensor you posted.

You  need the cold smoking bypass plug. the reason you are getting the error is cause you don't have the short cord connected from the SG to the box like you would if you had it set up with the box it came with.

Now you got the expert confirmation  ;D Mike knows what he is talking about.

You need the bypass plug that you would get when you purchase this.  Look under details in this page. As Toker said, you will have to call Bradley. I don't think they sell it on their website. I just looked and can't find it. But that ain't saying much ;D

Hi all,
After reading some posts about the bypass plug to correct E1 error. I have testsd a different approach, by making a new cable about 8 feet long with the same connectors on each end. I had the plugs here and am quite certain I got them at Radio Shack. They are coaxial dc power plugs that are Quite commom on wall warts power supplies. Next time I get to Radio Shack, will get part #. A word when I tested this setup, on my 4 rack digital, smoke generator read 83 degrees, and my Maverick read 81. To make plug some soldering is required.
  Thanks,  alanfromwis

Alan, rye-guy is trying to use his digital smoke generator on an old smoker of a different brand.  Unless I am misinterpreting your post making an 8 foot cord is not going to solve rye-guy's issue as there is no where to plug the other end of your 8 foot cable.  You can plug it in the DBS just fine but it still is going to show the E1 error.
