Chicken popsitioning

Breast up or spine up in the BS. Using BS for first time this weekend and want the best result. Can the chicken(s) be left breast up if this is the best way for the duration?

For whole chicken I always smoke with the breast up for the entire smoke. I smoke as high as the BS will go, using two hours of pecan, and pull them when the thigh reaches 160°F-165°F.

You may want to try to smoke it vertically. I feel this method give the best results, but it's a hassle for me. They always want to tip over on me when I'm carrying them to and from the smoker, and I am using a beer can holder. See this site.:

Or butterfly them. They tend to cook faster.
