If Frances stays on course it will X cross the path of Charley. God help those poor people.

If this thing does not turn soon there are going to be some really hurt people. Unlike Charley when it turned into a Cat 4 Frances is a long ways from us and it is already a Cat 4. Frances is not moving fast and it has yet to hit the really warm waters. Given its speed it will be over those warmer waters much longer than Charley was. Remember Charley jump from a Cat 2 to a Cat 4 once it hit those warmer gulf waters. Frances could very well turn it into a Cat 5 plus once it is over those waters.

All of the elements needed to become a true Super Storm are now in place. Perhaps it will even be the largest to ever hit this country.  Its current wind factor is now 140 miles per hour.

Oh Boy....

Looking at its tract this morning, if it says on course it will come within 60-65 miles of us. If you look at the map (below) there really is no place in Florida that will not be impacted. Of course it can change direction so where to you go?

Our house is one of the few that was built to withstand a Cat 3. The ideas employed in when building this house exceed the newer standard that was put into place after Hugo. Things like the walls are filled with steel reinforced concrete.

Now the "family room" was originally an open back porch. I expect there is a chance we could lose those walls, but not the part of it that holds up the roof. That was done by the orginal contractor.

What we need is a sharp right turn in this monster's path.

No one talking about this--but what is that to the right of Frances. Click on the link and let it load.

New path. It is now to come out just 40 miles north of us when it enters the gulf... Guess I will find out Sat sometime if the contractor who built this house knew what he was doing...

Check out this water/ vapor image:

They are saying it will now take 24 hours for this thing to pass through the state. That some areas will get up to 16 inches of rain.

In this 5pm update you can see where the path has changed and is now closer yet.

Back home...all is ok. I'm too tired to explain why my house did not take a beating....however I got a few pictures.

I will say we are very lucky. The after effects outweighed the main storm by a factor of 5. Around 10 pm last night they were winding down closing shelters. 2 am there was a  mandatory evacuation of several places. Now that I look back I had just gotten to sleep on a couch around 12:30 am. At 1:30 Skyway was in my face. He was very upset. Noise hot, ears hot, and panting heavley. I now understand why...

It was the backside of this storm that tore up my area of Florida. I saw rain going sideways so hard so thick that it looked like a fog...

Below are some pics of fools...

This first the fool is driving through salt water. Guess he does not think much of his car.

DOA

This one I saw coming down were the star is at. He was gunning it and fishtailing... when I came back by I got this picture....guess he will at least be getting a new tranmission...

This one is saltwater

This one is fresh water

All and all while many are without power, we did just great.

The worse I can say that happened to us was dealing with Skyway and Bonnie. They could feel something and as such they became more than a full time job. They love my Mon, but as soon as we got back home Skyway flatten out on the living room carpet so much he all most look like the carpet. He is still there and we have been here a good 45 minutes now.

I will say this about Skyway, which is very strange given his actions inside Mother's house, twice he would not shut up until I took him into the back yard when the storm was screaming and the rain was really coming down. He would pick himself up on his two front legs, his back legs layout. He would then lift his nose as to say...you're not so bad. Frankly his actions, his lack of fear, has given me reason to think that he will be my first and last Pit.... He is a lover, but I saw something in him then that told me that a Pit is not afraid. A Pit when he wants to will draw a line in the sand.

Going to bed now..and thanks all for the good words... I hope my friend sunflower is ok... I hope she came out as good as we did.
