It is not a pretty site on the TV and only 1st hand experience can understand what these people are going through.

My prayers are with you.

All I can do for you here in SW Virginia is pray and wish everyone out there the best. We're right at 15 inches below normal for rainfall this year and are suffering a severe drought. We got almost an inch of rain today,(more than we've had in over 3 months combined) but if I could get it out there to you guys somehow, I'd give you every drop. Peace.

Truely appreciate the prayers and best wishes folks.  THEY WORKED.
The great fire fighters saved our house and all of the neighbors right around me.  The fire came right up to the fence in the back yard.  Never thought I'd be so happy to have a smokey house and ash (that is not from the bradley).  The key being the word house was still in the sentence.  Took a picture of the house at the top of our street.  Military vehicle in the corner was occupied by a couple of our other great contributers to this country, and protecting the rubble from looters.  I brought them Black Forest salami, cheese and Ritz crackers, along with a couple bags of beef jerky, grapes and bottles of water.  They have been pretty well cared for by the neighbors and it was well deserved.  Took about 10 hours of cleaning just to be able to see the bottom of the pool.  The picture will show why.  Hopefully in a week the water will be clear again.

We were suppose to have hosted a party yesterday for friends and family of our daughters fiance.  After learning of our situation, they called and asked if we would still be interested in getting together even if we just ordered pizza.  We had quite a few folks over yesterday and my brother this morning to help us get washed down so we agreed.  Was able to pull off quite a feast with a prime rib, 3 chickens (Ice, the sauce came today and was a hit.. :) ), crab dip, shrimp c0cktail with atomic horseradish, artichoke dip, and a few other things here and there.  The visitors were very appreciative and amazed that my Wife and I were able to pull so much together in such a short time.  Did I mention that we also had to run down to my sister's 20 miles away to pick up the rest of our clothes and belongings from the evacuation and my TUX and the shop?

There are still folks out there in peril and of course all those not as fortunate that have lost their house so keep the prayers and wishes up.

My back yard fence.  The trees were not brown on Sunday and you could not see the culvert due to the vegetation that could not be removed due to some ecological preserve ruling.  We feared it might be a fire hazard.  Looks like we got it removed despite the beauracracy.

I am now opening a New Revitalizing alkaline spa treatment.

The park on the corner up the street, this morning.

The last house on our street.  The one next to it (not pictured) was not much better but was not listed as a total loss on the web site.  I think a few people would disagree.

:o Wow!  I am happy for ya Giz.  Really feel for the folks out there.  I once lost a home in a fire due to an electrical short.  At a minimum it is a very depressing ordeal.
Life is short. Smile while you still have teeth.

That's very shocking Giz  :'( almost seems like something from a science fiction movie, except when you've had enough of the movie you can flick to another channel.

On the up side, it's nice to hear you and the family are all ok, and your house managed to survive, apart from a dirty pool etc

Everybody that's involved are in our thoughts and prayers

Wow.... Very good news Gizmo!

It certainly appears the big guy was lookin' after you for sure. I really feel for the people who have lost everything.... certainly on the bright side is the loss of life has been minimal which is the biggest concern.

Gizmo,

Glad to hear you family and house are safe.

It is very eerie looking at those pictures and how the fire almost picks and chooses where it goes.

Carter

Glad everything has worked out OK for you and your family Giz.  Pretty unbelievable pictures.  As long as no one got badley hurt is the most important thing I guess, but I'd imagine the poor people who lost their homes are having a difficult time.

Best wishes.
