Bought a new OBS, got it on sale at Canadian Tire. Waited for a couple years to get one. Finaly did, and the frikkin puck advance thingy wont work!  Any suggestions? Its clean, and everything appears to be ok. IT was also all the way out, instead of in when I plugged it in. Push the button, nothing happens. You can faintly hear a little motor or something on the advance arm, but it doesnt move. I tried forcing it a bit, but that didnt help either. FRIKK.  MAKIN ME MAD!!!  I had about 15 lbs of ribs, chicken and brisket all prepped and ready to go to. I think I might just manually change the pucks out today, and send the POS back.

Sorry to hear about the mishap Snyd. I think a trip to Canadian Tire for a replacement is due. If not send in the registration and give Bradley a call. They are top notch on replacing faulty units. The advance plates normal position is all the way out after it's cycle so that part of it was alright. Sometimes in shipping things get banged up.  Either the seller or Bradley will come to the plate to fix your problem. If it had been me I would of at least seasoned the unit for a test run before planning a meal just so I new all was in working order. Good luck and keep us posted.

There are a couple of guys on here that may be able to help you when they see your post.  If it were me, I would call Bradley's customer service.  They have a good reputation and will probably take care of things in short order.  Keep us up to date.

In the mean time.  I suggest doing the smoke portion manually and then finish with the indoor oven.

Well, thats what I was doing, seasoning it, while I was making up the meat. I can easily enough barbeque the meat I guess. I tried pulling the chord pulling trick, it didnt work. I think there is a problem, I took the unit apart, and it seems like everything is fine. I clicked the little micro switch, and nothing happend. The thing that sucks, is I live an hour away from the Canadian Tire, I live on a farm. I HATE when things I buy new dont work. They could maybe try testing them a bit before shipping them.

Snyd

I will call custome service right now. Stand by.

I hear you there Snyd. I have to drive into Anchorage if I want to get to a dealer. Four hour round trip. I hate that when you buy something new and it doesn't work. Shot a portable stereo once just for that reason :D ;) Had the boss lady upset but dang it sure felt good! :D ;)

Snyd

Ok, so how is this for customer service. I called the Bradley company, and a nice lady answered. I told her about what went down, and explained how I checked everything inside, connections, clicked the little switch, etc. So, she said... "Sumthin wrong there mister. We be sendin' you a new one eh!"  So, its in the mail.

I cant complain too much about that I guess. Sucks the huge hieney that it doesnt work, but they are looking after me. I am just going to do all this meat manually. no big deal I geuss hey? I will take this one apart real good, and see if I can see anything else, but it sounded like the little motor was trying to go, but couldnt.

I will let you know how this batch o' grub is! Might even take some pics.  --Bob Snydmiller

Glad they backed you up Snyd. They have a very good track record so far with everyone. Sorry it messed up your first smoke though. Have a great weekend.

Welcome to the forum Snyd, sorry to hear of your problems. I know first hand how you feel as I had two cr*ppy smoke generators before I got a good one. Really frustrating when that happens but the hopefully things will get better.

Good luck with the replacement.  :)

Snyd;

Welcome to the forum. Like others I'm sorry to hear about you problem, but there is one more thing you should check. Something may be blocking the mechanism. Check the feeding tube to make sure you didn't insert it too far. Also I'm a little brain dead this afternoon; what does IT stand for?

I worked there for 9 months November 2005- August 2006. plant op. Separation anxiety made me leave. Im Back in BC now.
